Cheeseburgers and Milkshakes

Dear Miracle Babies,

We are inching closer and closer each day to finally getting to meet each other! I am very excited and can not wait!

I weighed myself today to see if I have gained any weight since becoming pregnant with you two and it's safe to say I have not gained any weight at all. That excites Mommy a little, because it means hopefully I won't have a ton of baby weight to loose once you guys are here, but it also makes me a little nervous knowing that there are two of you in there and I've not gained any weight. I want you both to be healthy more than anything!

Today started off a little rough for Mommy. I ate 1 pack of bananas n cream oatmeal, 2 pieces of toast, and a small cluster of green grapes with a glass of milk this morning in hopes of getting in our grains, a fruit serving, and a dairy serving this morning. Unfortunately, shortly after breakfast Mommy started feeling super sick and had to take some medicines to make her nausea stop and help her keep breakfast down. So I finally started feeling better and just got super hungry a little bit ago.

So of course, when I got hungry I had a huge craving for something spicy, a cheese burger, a milk shake and some onions rings! So I decided to go up town to Dairy Queen and get a flamethrower burger, onion rings, and a blueberry milkshake! (Cheeseburgers seem to be a recent and more often than expected craving) But now Mommy is paying a little for it as I'm starting to feel sick again. And unfortunately I can't take another pill to help my nausea for a while. But as always, Mom is okay with it because you both are so worth it.

We are one week away from our next appointment together and Mommy is looking forward to it! I'm pretty sure I should just expect the usual, which is normally a weigh in, urine sample, and listening to your little heartbeats. I'm hoping the doctor will decide to give me an ultrasound so I can see you again, or that he will let me know when our next one will be so I can start to count down the days when I will see you again!

Anyways, Mommy just wanted to check in. Things seem to be going slowly right now, but I know that they will pick up quickly when you both get bigger and Mommy gets farther along! And I know once things pick up, it will be no time before you are here.

I love you both so very very very much!

Love you forever,
Mommy

mmmm Oatmeal

Dear Miracle Babies,

Good Morning! This is, of course, your Mommy writing you again to let you know how the two of you and Mommy are doing! Tomorrow you both of you will be 12 weeks old, which is very exciting for Mommy, because it means only 1 week left until we are officially in the second trimester of pregnancy! Which means we are a third of the way closer to finally meeting you! Since you will be 12 weeks old, I of course wanted to tell you how much you will be growing again! Mommy has found this great website that tells her all of your developments week by week. Anyways, here is how you will be growing in your 12th week of life!

" The fetus is now about 2.5 inches (6cm) length and weighs about 0.7 ounce.
* The feet are almost half an inch (1cm) long.
* The fetus starts moving spontaneously.
* The face is beginning to look like a baby's face.
* The pancreas is functioning and producing insulin.
* Fingernails and toenails appear.
* The baby can suck his thumb, and get hiccups.

12 weeks From this week you may well be able to hear the baby's heart beat through a doppler monitor on your tummy. You will notice that the rate is up to 160 a minute, double that of a normal adult.

Your baby now has a chin and a nose and a facial profile. Vocal chords are complete, and the baby can and does sometimes cry silently. The brain is fully formed, and the baby can also feel pain. The fetus may even suck his thumb. The eyelids now cover the eyes, and will remain shut until the seventh month to protect the delicate optical nerve fibers. The hair is on the head and the fingers and toes have developed soft nails. The kidneys are developed and begin to secrete urine.

Your baby's size has almost doubled in the past 3 weeks."

I am so amazed at how much you are growing each week! I think my favorite part of this week is that fact that you both now have your vocal cords, can suck your thumb, and that your beautiful little faces are starting to look more and more like what they will be when Mommy finally meets you! What an exciting week!

However, Mommy would be a little bit more excited this week if she weren't so sick! You two must have really decided to give Mommy the what for yesterday, because I was so sick that all I was able to eat was 1 package of Ramen Noodles, and some raw carrots and raw sugar snap peas! So after having such a rough day, Mommy decided to call the doctor and make them give her some medicines so that she wouldn't feel nauseated anymore! I really want to take good care of you two while you are growing in there, and I really want to take care of me so I can be around a long time for you two, God willing! So after taking my medicine last night and going to bed, I woke up this morning so very ready to eat since none of us ate a lot yesterday. So I think this morning we will have some oatmeal.

Unfortunately though, even though Mommy isn't dealing with feeling nauseated anymore, Mommy is sick with what I think is a cold. My throat has been hurting for a couple of days now, and this morning, all my nose wants to do is run, and fill up with junk for me to blow out of it. Ewww! Anyways, hopefully Mommy is going to feel completely better here soon!

Our next appointment is on September 7th. I'm really hoping the doctor will let me see the both of you again! And if that's not in the plans, then I plan on trying to fit it into the plans because I really want to see you two again!

Anyways, that is all for this letter. Mommy's tummy is starting grumble because it is so hungry, so I think that's my signal that it's time to feed all of us!

I love you both so much already, and already can't imagine my life without you. All I want you two to do in there is grow, grow, grow, and become strong babies for Mommy.

I love you,
Mommy

P.S. Daddy is starting to get really excited about meeting the two of you. He has started putting his hand on my belly and talking to both of you already! And he's actually getting ready to let Mommy order the first thing for you, a crib! Just you wait til you both meet your Daddy! He is so funny and so very wonderful! God could not have given me a better Daddy for the two of you! Anyways, breakfast time. I love you!

What are you doing in there?

Dear Miracle Babies,

You've really got Mommy wondering just what it is your doing in there today, because I'm really not feeling well at all today! I went to bed last night after Daddy got home from work at midnight and didn't wake up til 11 am this morning. So you would think after 11 hours of sleep your Mommy would be well rested and ready to tackle the day, right? Wrong. After I got out of bed, not only was I still tired, but I started feeling a little sick to my stomach. I thought maybe you guys were hungry but since I was feeling so icky! So I got up and instead of my morning bowl of cereal I opted for some yogurt for breakfast. After we all ate breakfast, I was feeling flushed and hot, and got up to get a drink! Well when I got up to get a drink, Mommy must have gotten up too fast because she saw stars! So I got my water and sat back down. I still was feeling a little sick so I decided to try to eat some lunch a little later. After feeding you a bit of chips and queso dip, Mommy was still just not feeling well at all. So after deciding it was best to stay home and rest today, Mommy called work to let them know she was just not feeling well and wouldn't be in today. So we've spent the entire day on the couch resting, and I think you two are really liking being pampered! But the upset stomach hasn't gone away yet.

So I decided to get up and get a snack and write you this little letter to tell you guys, you should really enjoy our snack and settle down for a nap so Mommy can get just a little break, please?! Right now for snack we are having colby jack cheese, a banana, an apple, grapes, and some orange jello! But if you decide to not take nap, that's okay because even though you are being a little on the naughty side today, you are so worth it. We will just blame your little naughty streak that you are having today on your Daddy!

I can't wait until they let me see you both again! But tomorrow you will be 11 weeks old, so we are getting closer! I can't wait to see if you are a little boy and girl, or two little boys, or two little girls. So far everyone thinks that you are two little boys based on your heartbeats! But we will see. A lot of people think you are a boy and a girl too! But we will know for sure in about 9 more weeks!

I also thought it would be super neat to let you both know how big you are as of right now, and from here on out let you know how big you both are getting to be week by week.

Tomorrow you will be 11 weeks old, and as of right now each of you should be about 2 inches long and both of you should weight about 1/2 of an ounce each! You can swallow now, and your tooth buds are forming. Your little fingers and toes aren't webbed anymore, and your ears are starting to fall into place! You're already moving around even though Mommy can't feel you, and before I know it, you both will be kicking me! It amazes Mommy that you are you growing so fast in there! And I know when you get here, you'll still grow up faster than Mommy wants you to.

Anyways, that's it for this letter. If you two aren't planning on napping, Mommy is. That snack made me tired!

I love you both so very much!

Dear Miracles

Well, so many people told me I should really keep a pregnancy journal and after thinking about it, I think it would be something fun! Not just for me, but for my kids to look back at later on in life to read. I'll probably only share this with close friends and family, but we'll see where it leads. Mostly I plan on making my posts more like letters to my kids. So with that in mind, I guess I'll get started.

Dear Miracle Babies,

This is my first letter to you, although it's not the first time I've thought of you. As a matter of fact, your Daddy and I have been trying to meet you since your Daddy and I got married in October of 2006. But getting to meet you wasn't as easy as we had hoped, planned, or dreamed.

See Mommy has something called PCOS, which stands for a big long word that you probably won't be able to pronounce til your 15. I know people who are 30 and still can't pronounce it! But in a nut shell, it's a syndrome that Mommy has that affects her hormone levels and her insulin levels and makes it so that Mommy's body doesn't work like most Mommy's bodies do. So in order to meet you, Daddy and I went to several different doctors til we finally found the one that thought meeting you wouldn't be as hard, difficult, or impossible as everyone else has said it would be. We met Dr. Bopp in January of 2010. Mommy had to go through some more testing, and was finally put on a pill that made my body work normally and a pill to help with my insulin levels. We started trying to have you in March, and finally found out in July that you were on your way.

I'll never forget that feeling I had knowing that God had finally given you to us. Your Daddy was in the living room and I was in the bathroom taking a test to find out if you were here yet. I sat there praying and when I looked up, our test had 2 pink lines on it, which meant that you were inside Mommy's belly and you had already started developing. I yelled for your Daddy, and when he got there, I showed him the test. We hugged, I cried, and then we called some very important people to tell them that you were on your way. Your Daddy called his Mom and Grandma, and I called my Dad, Mom, and text a best friend to tell them the good news. Everyone was very excited. I found out on July 3rd, which was a Saturday, and had my first Dr's appointment on Monday. They did some blood work to confirm you were definitely on your way and then they scheduled an ultrasound so we could get a good look at you! On July 25th, we got to see you for the very first time. And boy were we surprised.

Daddy and I went into the room where they were going to show you to us, and up until that point we thought there was only 1 of you in there. The doctor and two nurses came in, and we started looking at you. You were only 6.5 weeks old! The nurse told us there was one baby, then when she moved her tool a little bit, she told us there were 2 of you in there! I was so very very excited! I had prayed for so long for God to give me a baby, and he had blessed me with 2 babies! I couldn't believe it. Your Daddy on the other hand just said "shew" and smiled. He was speechless, literally! Then they let us hear the most beautiful sound in the world, your little beating hearts. At this point, we didn't know if you were boys or girls or one of each, so they only called you Baby A and Baby B! Baby A, your heart beat was 132 beats per minute. And Baby B, your heart beat was 127 beats per minute. I cried because I was so happy. Daddy was still speechless, but it was a happy speechless. After we talked to the doctor and got some pictures of you, we left.

Mommy had some pretty weird food cravings when you first started growing in her belly. I loved Spaghetti O's and Meatballs. Now the thought of them makes Mommy want to throw up. Other than being super tired though, I felt great the first 7 weeks that you were growing in there. Then something called Morning Sickness set it. Needless to say, every morning (and even noon and night) from the time you were 7 weeks old til you were 10 weeks old, Mommy felt like throwing up or did throw up. But you were worth it!

I can't wait to meet you. The doctors say you are supposed to come on March 11th, 2011, but that you will probably come a little bit earlier than that since there are two of you in there. Your Daddy and I are so excited to meet you and we just can't wait to hold you! You are an answered prayer from God and to Mommy, you are my Miracle Babies. I love you more than you know already! I'll keep on writing you these letters until you get here, and then when I do finally meet you, I may just keep this journal to tell you about all the changes you've had in your lives and that you've made in your Daddy's life and mine.

Love you forever,
Mommy
